FAQs + Fees

who?

I work with adults of all ages. I don’t work with children or with couples.

where?

Prior to Covid I held in-person client sessions in Canterbury, Kent, UK. I have no plans to restart in-person sessions as working with clients on Zoom protects people with health vulnerabilities as well as eliminating geographical and accessibility constraints. Online sessions have proved to be very effective, certainly not a second best option.

what, WHEN and how?

SE sessions last for 50 minutes and take place on Zoom on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays with start times between 9am and 6pm. If required we could have an initial conversation about your situation and whether I can be of help: either in a no fee 15 minute phone chat or in a paid full session.

I recommend starting weekly for six sessions to gain momentum after which frequency often moves to fortnightly - guided by what FEELS best. Some between session support is available usually by email.

I encourage you to see Somatic Experiencing as a gradual process of change and resilience-building rather than a achieving quick healing. Although clients often notice some change fairly soon, the work is slow and long-term particularly when there has been attachment and developmental trauma.

FEES

My fees are £70 per session. I allocate 25% of my caseload for low-cost sessions to those on Benefits or low incomes: there is currently an extremely slow-moving waiting list for these low-cost places.

CANCELLATIONS

Please give as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel a session. Cancellations made within 48 hours of a session incur the full fee if I’m unable to fill that session.

Benefits + Risks

SE can bring many benefits such as an increased ability to self-soothe and feel empowered.  However, there may also be risks as with any treatment that focuses on healing trauma.  Although SE is designed to help you resource and work with manageable amounts of discomfort, you may experience challenging feelings, images, or thoughts. Furthermore, as with any stress reduction treatment, there can be no guarantee that you will reach all your goals. That said, many people report that SE has helped them tremendously, creating positive change in their lives.  Learning how to reorganise ‘body memory’ is often vital to learning how to relax and calm the nervous system.
